02 Cairns – Darwin

Nothing goes to plan anymore

An update to let you know that I haven’t ridden off the edge of the earth. About to hit the road again (plan?) after a planned two day stop in Darwin took a two months.

The house was packed up and rented by the end of July; sister Annie and I set off in a westerly direction, Annie in her brand new car and me on my glorified lawnmower. We were on Plan C at that stage as WA boarders had closed. The odyssey unfolded, sleeping out under star crammed night sky’s, meeting David Green1 in Camooweal, finding a lost city near Borroloola and generally doing good stuff.

I think I explained to most people before I left Cairns that my days of practicing architecture had come to an end …… well, that didn’t go to plan either. I have been keeping off the streets by putting together a funding submission to build a Regional Performing Arts Centre in Palmerston, but with this winding up next week I’m planning to get back on the bike and head south. Cheers for now 87)
